Wine, tsipouro, ouzo
Short, Greek, and argued about once a year.
Thirty-one wines, six of them by the glass. Yiorgos rewrites the list every February and Sofia removes two of his choices.
White
What we pour with the board.
- Assyrtiko, Santorini €7 / €34 Mineral, sharp, and the reason people think they like Greek wine.
- Malagousia, Epanomi €6 / €29 Peach and basil. The one for the table that found the Assyrtiko severe.
- Vidiano, Crete €6 / €30 Rounder, quieter. Very good with the salt-baked bream.
- Robola, Kefalonia €/ €32 Lemon pith. Order it with the sole.
- Retsina, barrel €4 / €16 Properly made, and the correct answer to a kilo of anchovies.
Red, rosé and spirits
Cold reds, and nothing we would not drink.
- Limnio, Thrace €6 / €28 The local red, served cold. With the bonito, and we will not be argued out of it.
- Xinomavro, Naoussa €7 / €36 For the table that wants a serious red with a fish dinner. It works.
- Rosé, Amyndeo €6 / €27 Dry, pale, and drunk faster than anything else on the list in August.
- Tsipouro, Tirnavos €5 With anise or without. Cold carafe, ice on the side, never in it.
- Ouzo, Plomari €5 And Mytilini, drier, for those who know the difference.
Bring your own, and we will drink a glass with you.
Corkage is eight euros. Offer Yiorgos a taste and he will tell you exactly what he thinks, which you may not want.
