Reservation & Cancellation Policy
What we hold, for how long, and what happens if plans change.
Telephone us if anything changes. It almost always solves it, and there is almost never a charge.
Holding your table
We hold a confirmed table for fifteen minutes past the booked time. After that we will still seat you, but it may not be the same table, and on a Saturday in August it may be another half hour. A telephone call fixes this.
Tables under twelve people
No deposit, no card, and no cancellation charge at any notice, ever. If you cannot come, we would simply like to know, because there is usually someone on the pier who would take the table.
Tables of twelve and over
- A deposit of ten euros a head, taken when we confirm, and deducted from the final bill.
- Cancel more than seventy-two hours ahead and we return it in full.
- Inside seventy-two hours we keep it, because by then we have bought the fish for you specifically.
- Reduce the numbers and we adjust the deposit, up to seventy-two hours before.
The whole tavern
Bookings of the whole room are agreed individually and confirmed in writing, with terms set out in that confirmation. See Private Events.
If we have to cancel
It has happened twice in forty-eight years, both times because of a power cut. We telephone, we return every deposit in full, and we buy you dinner on a date of your choosing.
The monthly Tuesday
We close one Tuesday a month for staff dinner. The date goes on the door a fortnight ahead. If you have a booking on it, we telephone you as soon as it is set.
